Frederica é uma artista portuguesa que trabalha e vive em Lisboa. Criada entre o mar e o campo, a sua obra incorpora e reproduz a ferocidade da Mãe Natureza, investigando e evocando motivos do feminino, do urgente, do simples e do necessário. Na sua prática, Frederica transpõe para a tela as vistas do oceano, ao mesmo tempo em que traz à luz problemáticas da cidade, como as fragilidades da integridade ecológica, as falhas na gestão da água e a necessidade de regeneração. Nas suas últimas obras, Frederica questiona a robotização do homem, apelando a uma reflexão sobre a dicotomia entre o ser e o fazer.

Como arquiteta, Frederica aborda o espaço simultaneamente como estrutura e superfície, reinterpretando-o através da luz e da exploração material. A artista concebe a pintura não como uma entidade aplicada à arquitetura, mas como uma superfície arquitetónica em si mesma. Atualmente, desenvolve uma coleção de azulejos e pedra transformada para espaços interiores e exteriores, explorando a relação entre pintura e arquitetura através da textura, da composição e da intervenção espacial.

EXPOSIÇÕES

Frederica é formada em arquitetura na Universidade de Bath, com mestrado integrado na Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa. Ao longo dos seus anos de carreira, sempre manteve o seu atelier de pintura, tanto em Lisboa como no Reino Unido.

Expôs o seu trabalho em 2019, na Casa da Cultura da Comporta,

Em 2021 na Galeria Artroom, em Lisboa,

E em 2025 na galeria Viga Studios, no Porto.

Em 2024 desenvolveu uma coleção de Azulejos em parceria com a Viúva Lamego, explorando as Flores na sua tridimensionalidade.

BIO

Frederica is a Portuguese artist based in Lisbon. Raised between the sea and the country, her work embodies and replicates the ferocity of Mother Nature, investigating and evoking motifs of the feminine, the urgent, the simple, and the necessary. In her practice, Frederica captures ocean landscapes through painting while exploring urgent urban concerns, from ecological fragility and water mismanagement to the broader need for environmental regeneration. In her latest work, Frederica questions the robotization of man, searching for truth in the dichotomy of doing versus being.

As an architect, Frederica approaches space simultaneously as structure and surface, reinterpreting it through light and material exploration. The artist conceives painting not as an element applied to architecture, but as an architectural surface in itself. She is currently developing a collection of tiles and transformed stone for interior and exterior spaces, exploring the relationship between painting and architecture through texture, composition, and spatial intervention.

EXHIBITIONS

Frederica holds a degree in architecture from the University of Bath and an integrated master's degree from the Autonomous University of Lisbon. Throughout her career, she has always maintained her painting studio, both in Lisbon and in the United Kingdom. She exhibited her work in 2019 at the Casa da Cultura da Comporta, in 2021 at the Artroom Gallery in Lisbon, and in 2025 at the Viga Studios gallery in Porto. In 2024, she developed a collection of tiles in partnership with Viúva Lamego, exploring flowers in their three-dimensionality.
